TE and WR Sleepers

Updated: August 24, 2012

We will bunch the sleeper tight ends and wide receivers together here for one main reason. Both positions are stacked and top heavy. When looking for a second teamer or a sleeper, there is a good chance you will find a good to great player still on the board. But in the chance you want to dip lower into the order to save a little cash, here is what we have to say about the TE and WR sleepers.

Washington could have something special with young gunslinger Robert Griffin III. If they hit it big on that then his go-to guy, sure to be Pierre Garcon, could have a banner year. Demaryius Thomas had a couple of impressive showings in the playoffs for the Denver Broncos last year. This year with one of the all time greats throwing balls to him that impressive showing should carry over to the 2012 regular season. Deep threat second year man Torrey Smith has a huge upside for the Ravens. It’s not the most potent offense but a long man like Smith could see some big games. Randall Cobb could be one of many Green Bay receivers to have big numbers if he can hold on to the ball. To wrap it up we look at Reggie Wayne who had a rough year last year. Considering everything that has happened in Colts land, there is little reason to doubt a return to his stellar career norm this year.

The tight end board is even more stacked than the receiver core. A man taken as the sixth or seventh TE could be a great player and lead the NFL in total yards. A few are dozing however and we’ll tell you about them right now. Jared Cook is looking towards a contract season with the Titans while Ed Dickson should shine brighter this year as the Ravens main go-to tight end. Kyle Rudolf has a chance to sit in the top few receivers list for the Vikings in only his second year. Lastly Coby Fleener and Dwayne Allen should both be large parts of the Colts offense this season. Coby could be a good cheap second teamer for you.
