RBs Who are Dozing

Which running backs could provide good support for your second teamers or just as a late round pick to sure up the offense? The sleeper cast of RB’s comes calling and there are some good names in here. Without a doubt some of these could surprise with a year as big as the big guys in the draft. For your fantasy team purposes the right backup RB can be valuable.

After a few sluggish years to start Cedric Benson has put up consistently good numbers over the past few years. His move to the super offense at Green Bay can only help his numbers. The Saints have the kind of backfield that scares away most fantasy owners but Mark Ingram could be someone to look at for a second teamer. He is one of the group but has unique skills that could see him featured in many point scoring ways. Mikel Leshoure was injured early last year so still has no big game experience. He does have skills however and this year should be the Lions featured back. He’s worth a glance for sure. Also many are expecting decent things from Buffalo’s C.J. Spiller and I don’t disagree.

That takes care of the higher functioning less risk sleepers. There are more worth a look however. Jacquizz Rodgers is small but could bring some good numbers to the Falcons backfield and Isaac Redmond could see much improved numbers as the default Steelers RB in a contract year for him. Stevan Ridley  was stuck behind New England’s Green-Ellis last season. This year he will have the job largely to himself in the second year of his young career. That type of role in the Patriots backfield has a way of turning young players into superstars. He is low on the list here but make no mistake, he could leap higher than anyone thinks he could this year. With that offense, anything is possible.

  1. C.J. Spiller
  2. Cedric Benson
  3. Mikel Leshoure
  4. Stevan Ridley
  5. Isaac Redmond
